SAT MID-TERM ASSESSMENT OF 5 YEAR STRATEGIC PLAN

Mthente Research and Consulting Services was appointed by South African Tourism to conduct the Mid-Term Assessment to assess the first two and a half years of implementation of their Five-Year Strategic Plan 2020 – 2025. The objective of the mid-term progress report was to;  determine the extent to which South African Tourism has succeeded in achieving each of the strategic outcome-oriented goals and objectives set at the beginning of the five-year period,   undertake an analysis of SA Tourism’s Five-Year Strategic Plan in relation to the organisation’s performance, provide an analysis of the global changes that have implications for the organisation’s work for the remainder of the five-year term and provide recommendations on amendments to the Five-Year Strategic Plan for the remaining period.

In addition to an in-depth analysis of documents and reporting evidence submitted by SA Tourism, Mthente conducted 11 group interviews with Executive Managers and the Heads of Business Units who play a key role in ensuring delivery against the Five-Year Strategic Plan. These interviews were designed to probe and gain additional in-depth qualitative information from the participants and assisted with the triangulation of findings for the report. The final Mid-Term Progress Report provided deep insights into the assessment of the five-year strategic plan for South African Tourism and was developed in line with DPME Guidelines.
