Joint Study on Economic Cooperation Between South Africa and Japan

Mthente was commissioned by the dti, in conjunction with the Japanees Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry,  to undertake Study on Economic Cooperation Between South Africa and Japan – Automotive, Minerals Beneficiation and Agro-Processing Sectors.

The aims of this research were twofold: a) to serve as an information input for SA and Japan towards the formulation of joint collaborative work in the economic sphere, and b) to recommend and discuss mutually beneficial cooperative activity in areas such as industrial development, infrastructure development, and investment promotion.

From thee research implementable initiatives and projects were identified with a view of promoting government’s objectives of economic growth, technology transfer, skills development and transfer, investment promotion and the deepening and optimisation of the manufacturing value-chain in SA.
