Business Leadership South Africa (BLSA): Member Perception Survey
Mthente Research and Consulting Services was appointed by Aprio on behalf of Business Leadership South Africa (BLSA) to conduct a Member Perception Survey designed to support BLSA’s strategic goals. This research project aimed to assess the organisation’s current effectiveness, understand the experiences of its corporate members, and identify key areas for improvement. By engaging directly with members, the study provided valuable insights to help BLSA ensure that it remains relevant, responsive, and aligned with the issues that matter most to its stakeholders.
The survey focused on understanding whether BLSA is on the right track in terms of its strategic objectives and whether it is adequately addressing the most critical challenges faced by its members. It also explored members’ satisfaction with the organisation’s responsiveness, communication, and service offering. A key objective was to determine the value members feel they receive from their relationship with BLSA and what changes they believe could enhance that value.
Mthente implemented a quantitative research approach, administering a structured online survey to representatives from BLSA’s corporate member companies. The survey tool collected both quantitative and qualitative feedback and was structured around six key themes: Positioning and Posture, Communication, Collaboration, Stakeholder Management, Self-Regulation, and Overall Satisfaction. Responses were converted to a 10-point scale, and an overall Stakeholder Index was calculated to present a comprehensive view of member perceptions.
Through this research, Mthente delivered actionable insights to guide BLSA’s strategic planning, enhance member engagement, and improve service delivery. The findings equip BLSA with a clearer understanding of its strengths and areas for growth, ensuring it continues to play a meaningful and effective role within South Africa’s business leadership community.
